Take a picture - it lasts longer

If you saw my blog post yesterday, then you’ve seen the Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper. Or at least, a bit of it. I used it again in one of the cards at last weekend’s Birthday Bash class, turning it into a ‘polaroid’ type card.

So you know how they say ‘take a picture, it lasts longer’ (as in, longer than a look), or ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ – well, I’m blown away at how realistic, and 3D this paper looks.  I get that they are actual photographs taken of objects, then turned into printed paper – but seriously!

I also love the bright, fun colours – perfect for celebrations!

Okay – let’s make a card that LOOKS like it was created with a Polaroid print! I saw this idea online – sorry I don’t remember the originator – and thought it would be fun to create.

To create the ‘polaroid’ look, use the Layering Squares Framelits and the Big Shot to die cut a square from a rectangular panel of Whisper White cardstock. Then cut your DSP to 3″x3″ and glue it to the back of the opening, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Stamp the sentiment onto a length of Whisper White in Lemon Lime Twist ink, and use the Banner Triple Punch to create banner tails on one end. Do the same with a strip of patterned DSP, and layer it behind the sentiment.  For the star, I used the one that comes in the Wood Crate Framelits, and die cut one from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.

It’s difficult to see in the above picture, but I embossed the Basic Black cardstock panel with the Big Shot and the retired Stylish Stripes embossing folder. If you don’t have that one, you can use the new Simple Stripes Textured Embossing Folder.

All the panels were layered together with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

See what I mean about the 3D effect with the DSP? Those bows look like they’re tucked in behind the paper!

The Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set has some great sentiments, as well as the images! At only $21 for the set of 18 stamps, it’s a steal of a deal!

Here’s a couple more pictures from my Birthday Bash class – the ladies had so much fun! 🙂

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
