It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means! This time, the Paper Craft Crew has a two week Tic Tac Toe Challenge for you! That’s right – summer has begun, so we know you may be a bit busy. So, you have two weeks to get your creative hat on, and join the challenge.
TIC TAC TOE CHALLENGE
For this challenge, just choose 1 line from the board. It can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal. Include the 3 items in the row to your project, and link it up!
You get to choose everything else – the colours, stamps, dies and layout!
FACETED TURNABOUT FLOWER
I was having a hard time choosing which line I was going to work with. Finally, I settled on using my Concord & 9TH Faceted Turnabout Stencil, that creates a flower. Bingo – I used the middle vertical line – die cut element, favourite colour and floral.
One of my favourite colours is purple, and the die cut is the MFT Sweet Hello die set.
When using the Turnabout Stencils, you need to set up your cardstock and stencil in a stamping platform, like the MISTI. This way, you always keep one side at a 90 degree angle against one side of the platform. You keep your cardstock in one position, and turn the stencil only one half turn, after stenciling each colour.
Since you’ll be making 4 turns with the stencil, choose 4 colours that will work together. I chose the Hero Arts Fuchsia Layering ink cubes – they’re 4 inks already coordinated! The colours are gorgeous; Passion Flower, Grape Juice, Ultra Pink and Moss. While they were specifically put together to be used with the Layering Fuchsia stamp set (I have this one – you can see it HERE), you of course can use the inks for any other project.
Remember – clean off your stencil between colours, so as not to smear them together. Also, clean your stencil before putting it away! The easily rinse off under water, or use the same cleaner that you use for your stamps.
CREATE THE SENTIMENT
Use both pieces of the MFT (My Favorite Things) Sweet Hello Dies. Cut the detail word from gold foil cardstock, and the outline image from vellum cardstock. Layer the two together with the Quickie Glue Stick, and then attach the layers to the stenciled panel. Just underneath the die cut, stamp the rest of the sentiment from the MFT Well, Hello stamp set (it coordinates with the dies) in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. Cover it with clear embossing powder, and set with a heat tool.
LAYER IT UP!
Create a card base from light gray cardstock. Next, cut a panel of dark purple cardstock to 3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″. Glue it to the middle of the card base. Now, attach the stenciled panel on top, using foam tape or squares.
I don’t know about you, but if I found a flower like this in my garden, I’d be calling Guinness Book of Records!
