Waste Not, Want Not

Does anyone else remember this saying, from growing up? My parents always said ‘waste not, want not’, whenever we were about to throw out something. We had to think about whether it could be kept, or re purposed, or given away. The meaning being, of course, that if you didn’t waste it today, you wouldn’t be wanting for it tomorrow. I think that came about from being part of the generation that grew up during the war. Everything was scarce, so the ‘disposable’ mentality that developed in the 90’s didn’t exist. Thank goodness that we’re headed back in the direction of thinking before throwing out! Waste not, want not – and save the planet!

LEFTOVER BRUSHO BACKGROUND

When I used my Brusho Crystal colours to paint the Stamplistic dog image in this post, I had leftover paints. Well, I couldn’t just wash them down the drain! Not all of them, anyway.  I cut another panel of watercolour paper, and painted a background with some of the leftover paint. So there it was, on my desk, when I came to create something for today. It was easy to add the focal image.

CARD DETAILS

Take the watercolour Brusho panel, and set it up in your stamp platform. Use the large image from the December 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit from Hero Arts, inked with Versamark. Stamp firmly down onto the paper. You’ll need to repeat the inking & stamping at least twice, because of the texture of the paper.

After stamping, cover the image with fine white embossing powder, and heat set.  On a strip of white cardstock, stamp the sentiment from the Studio Katia Peony Trimmings stamp set in Nocturne ink.  Add the sentiment with some foam tape to the bottom corner.

On a yellow card base, attach two squares of bright blue cardstock in the upper left & lower right corners. Attach the card front, using fun foam or foam tape, to the front.

SUPPLIES

I hope that you & your friends and family are doing well, during this ‘new normal’ time for us all. As long as we follow the rules of physical distancing, extra vigilant hygiene and no  unnecessary outings, we’ll get through this.  It’s difficult, but it’s not as difficult as going to war, or even living through a war, so there’s that to be thankful for.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
