WATERCOLOUR PEACEFUL POINSETTIA
Last week I shared a quick card, made with mainly the Detailed Poinsettia Thinlits Dies. Those are the dies that coordinate with the Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set. Good news – as always with a new catalogue, you’ll be able to Bundle these and save 10%! Today’s card showcases the stamp set, with a watercolour Peaceful Poinsettia. If you missed the other card, you can SEE THAT POST HERE.
In colouring the images, I used both the current pack of Watercolour Pencils, plus the new limited-time pack. Be sure to get these before they’re gone on August 31st; the pack is all new colours not found in the current pack!
This is the largest image in this stamp set, which has a total of 7 stamps; 4 images and 3 sentiments.
CARD FRONT DETAILS
On a panel of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the poinsettia image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Use the Cherry Cobbler Watercolour Pencil to create the shading on the flower petals and berries. Colour in with the Real Red pencil, then blend the two colours with a Blender Pen. For the leaves, create the shading with the Garden Green pencil, and colour in with the Granny Apple Green pencil (both in the new set). Go back and blend them together with the Blender Pen. To add the Crushed Curry pencil to the centre of the poinsettia, I picked the colour directly from the pencil with my Blender Pen, and layered it onto the middle of the flower. This is an easy way to add colour, and go back and add additional shading to your images.
Use the Detailed Trio Punch to round the corners of your watercolour panel.
Stamp the sentiment from the Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set onto another piece of white cardstock, in Cherry Cobbler ink. Use the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits to die cut the sentiment.
Create a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Run it through the Big Shot with the Tufted Embossing Folder. Be sure to use a Spritzer and spritz your cardstock lightly with water before embossing. This will help loosen the fibres of the cardstock, and prevent any cracking.
Attach the sentiment and watercolour panel onto the embossed panel, with Stampin Dimensionals. Wrap a length of ribbon around the middle of the panel; I used some retired gold ribbon. Hold the ribbon in place on the back, with Tear & Tape.
Attach the embossed panel to a card base of Old Olive cardstock, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finish off your card front by adding Metallic Pearls in Gold to the tufting on the embossed panel.
