I’ve been wanting to get back into participating in more challenges, but I seem to be short on time – so this time, when I saw the new Watercooler Challenge, I made sure to get it done!

This week it’s a colour challenge, put together by my friend Susan Horr – here it is:

Watercooler Wednesday WWC38-001

I had an idea in my head as to what I wanted to do – here’s how it came out:

WWC38 awesomely artistic

It was nice to take a break from Christmas cards, and remind myself of Spring!

I started by masking off my Whisper White cardstock, and sponging the So Saffron and Pool Party inks using Sponge Daubers down the middle.  After removing the masking, I stamped the flower image from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set in the middle, using Watermelon Wonder ink.  I added a few of the colour splashes in Pool Party ink, then stamped the dragonfly in Basic Gray onto Vellum Cardstock.  After stamping, I covered the dragonfly with Clear Embossing Powder, and heat set it with the Heat Tool, then cut it out.  I like the shiny-ness of the wings!

I used my Project Life Corner Rounder Punch for the corners of the stamped panel as well as the Watermelon Wonder cardstock panel that I layered it on to.  I then used my retired punch to make the 2 pieces in Pool Party cardstock on the side, and added a Basic Gray Candy Dot on each one.  Finally, I layered it all onto a card base of Basic Gray.

I decided to leave the card without a sentiment for now, so that I can add one later, when I want to use the card.

I hope you’ll check out the Watercooler Challenge page, and see what the design team came up with for our inspiration.  They’re wonderful!

Thanks for spending some time with me today – and remember to get your order in for 15% OFF Stamps!

Until next time – happy stamping!

Hi Deb, I love what you’ve created using the colours from Susan’s challenge. The sponging behind the images gives the card such a lovely atmosphere. I agree, totally, that using the clear embossing powder on your dragonfly was a super idea. Love the wings! Thanks so much for joining us this week for the Watercooler Wednesday challenge.

I love your card, Deborah (even before I read that it was a Watercolor challenge card!!). The sponging in the middle makes it look so soft. I love your dragonfly. It looks so real!

I love your card. I love dragonfly’s as much as butterfly’s. Love that stamp set and how you used the colours! Very nice!
