WOW Cards Made Easy

When people ask me what I like most about Stampin’ Up!, I invariably answer that they make creating WOW cards easy! With the colour coordination across inks, cardstock and embellishment, you can’t go wrong. And to make it even easier, they create Suites or Bundles of products that all work together, taking out more of the guesswork.  Seriously, Stampin’ Up! makes even beginner card makers look like pros!

Have you ever received your new Designer paper, and wondered what colours are in the patterns? Well, you don’t need to wonder! It’s there for you to see – just turn over the package of paper, and on the label on the back you’ll see the name of the paper, plus ALL of the colours used in the designs! I’m always surprised to find out that people don’t know that information is there – but it’s been there all along.  Plus, a couple of catalogues ago, Stampin’ Up! started offering coordinating cardstock packs for the DSP packs. So you can order those at the same time, and you’re ready to craft as soon as you receive your order! It’s all about making WOW cards made easy.

My card today doesn’t use any designer paper, but I took my colour cues from our colour collections. I used colours found in the Subtles collection; Pool Party and Balmy Blue ink.

WOW Cards Made Easy

This card came together so quickly! The part that took the longest was choosing which snowflakes to use. Start with a panel of Whisper White cardstock. Use the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set,and stamp the background texture stamps in Pool Party and Balmy Blue. Next, add some stamped snowflakes, again using both ink colours.

Next, use the Big Shot with the Blizzard Thinlits Die, and die cut a sheet of Silver Foil paper. Release all of the snowflakes, plus the little circles, from the foil sheet. Be sure to keep all of the snowflakes – whatever you don’t use on this card, you can use on another project. Attach as many die cut snowflakes and little circles as you want, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, across the card front.

Spoiler Alert! I did NOT use Silver Foil to create the card base – I used another helper from Stampin’ Up! to make this WOW card! On page 11 of the Holiday catalogue, you’ll notice in the middle of the page the Foil-Edged Cards & Envelopes. You can order them in either Gold or Silver (of course I order a package of each!); they come with 20 cards, and 20 envelopes in each package. They’re the standard A2 card size, which is 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, just like you make yourself. And the envelopes even had the foil edging, to match the cards! Your friends and family will feel really special when they receive one of these from you!

Attach your stamped panel to the card base; I used Dimensionals, or you can use liquid glue if you want.

The inside of the card base is white, so it’s up to you if you want to add another panel or not. I haven’t added a sentiment yet, so I haven’t taken a picture of the inside.  I would recommend adding some more stamped snowflakes inside, though! You know how I love adding stamping inside.

Everything I used to create this card is available through my online store! Click the product images below; my store is open 24/7, for your convenience. Of course I will place your order for you, if you prefer that, as well.

I’d love to hear what Stampin’ Up! features that you use, to make your wow cards easy – leave me a comment! Thanks for spending some time with me today 🙂

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
