Your Challenge This Week

Your challenge this week, should you choose to accept it – is a colour challenge! But, it’s a colour challenge with a twist; you get to add your own ‘mystery colour’!

Your Challenge This Week

That’s right – you use the 3 colours shown; orange, lemon-lime, black or gray; then ADD YOUR OWN 4th colour! As usual, neutrals such as white, vanilla and black are ‘free’ to  use – but you’ve already got black included as one of the colours to use.  So get creative! Choose a colour, then start stamping 🙂

I chose to add yellow – in this case, Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Delight – as my 4th colour.

Your Challenge This Week

I couldn’t help myself – when I see black combined with orange and lemon-lime, my mind goes to Hallowe’en! I chose Daffodil Delight as my 4th colour, because of course I had to add a spooky moon behind the tree.

Stamp sets: Best of Halloween (retired), Timeless Textures. Cardstock: Basic Black, Lemon-Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White. Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight. Accessories: Brick Wall Embossing Folder, Banner Triple Punch, Layering Oval Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Everyday Label Punch, Banner Triple Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, Sponge Dauber. Tools: Big Shot Adhesives: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals

First I created by card base; Basic Black cardstock 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″. Then I glued a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Lemon-Lime Twist cardstock to the base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Next, I used the Big Shot and Brick Wall embossing folder to dry emboss a 3 3/4″ x 5″ panel of Pumpkin Pie cardstock. It is attached to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The banner is a strip of 2″ wide Daffodil Delight cardstock, with the one end punched with the Banner Triple Punch. Before attaching it, I stamped the small splatters from the Timeless Textures stamp set in Pumpkin Pie ink onto it. I used the Multipurpose glue to attach it to the base.

To create the focal area, I took a scrap piece of cardstock, and punched a circle in the middle with the 1″ Circle Punch. Using this as a mask, I sponged Daffodil Delight ink in the open circle, then added Pumpkin Pie ink around the edges.  This created the moon. Next, I stamped the image from the retired Best of Halloween stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then I used a Sponge Dauber, and extended the black a the bottom to cover the excess white area.  This piece is then die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits and the Lemon-Lime Twist oval behind it die cut with the Layering Ovals Framelits. Both are attached to the card base with Dimensionals.

The sentiment, also from this stamp set, is stamped onto Whisper White in the Memento black ink. I used the new Everyday Label Punch on it, but decided it was too big. So, I took it to my Stampin’ Trimmer, and cut off the top and bottom of the punch area. Then I attached it with Dimensionals.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
