You've Got Mail

YOU’VE GOT MAIL

I love the movie ‘You’ve Got Mail’ with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan! Two wonderful actors, and a story based on the 1940’s movie, The Shop Around the Corner.  Of course, I also love books & book stores, which made it that much more personal. For today’s card, I’m combining two of my favourite stamp sets. One set is called Happy Mail, by Pretty Pink Posh; the other is Upon a Star from Lawn Fawn. I really love the animal images in both, so the combination was born!

LOVE NOTES

This card would be cute for Valentine’s Day, or any other time you want to brighten someone’s day. Seriously – we all need to send more cards! They brighten a day enormously, & are such a treat to find amongst the bills and flyers. Yet even I, who makes cards daily, still can’t seem to mail them as often as I should! Perhaps this year, that will change.

You've Got Mail

I decided that since the mail is being delivered by the bluebird of happiness, it should be directed to these sweet bunnies!

CARD FRONT DETAILS

I found some note cards in my stash that are pre-made to look like a watercolour wash background. Perfect! So I cut off the front panel to use as my background.

For the images, all are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto white cardstock.  The bunnies are both from the Upon a Star stamp set, and the bird, mailbox and letters are from the Happy Mail stamp set. The bunnies are coloured and shaded in browns, with the tails left white.

The bird is coloured and shaded in light blue, the mailbox in gray. Have fun colouring the letters! I used red and a bright yellow, to make them pop a bit.

You've Got Mail

After colouring, use the coordinating Happy Mail dies and Upon a Star dies with a Big Shot to die cut each of the images. First, without adhesive, lay out the images as you want them, and then stamp the sentiment from the Happy Mail stamp set in Memento ink. Use your MISTI or other stamp positioner, so that you can stamp it twice, to get a nice, deep, crisp inking.

Now you can add foam tape or foam squares to the backs of all of the die cut images, and attach them to the front panel. I added the one small letter to the front of the open mailbox, so it looks like either the bird just dropped it, or it’s sliding out of the full mailbox.

Isn’t this the sweetest? I think it proves that you don’t have to be a ‘little’ kid to appreciate cute animals! I would love to get a card like this 🙂

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator.
